Analysis: My selection is on the 'over' between Miami and Los Angeles at 10:10 pm et on Monday. We saw glimpses into the way the new-look Heat wanted to play earlier in the season when they hoisted up 102 field goal attempts in a losing effort against the defensive-minded Pistons. While it didn't work on that night, Miami has since rounded into form offensively, getting off 92, 96 and 93 field goal attempts in its last three contests and making good on 41, 51 and 54 of those over that stretch. Defensively, the Heat remain a work-in-progress. They've allowed a matador-like 94, 96 and 91 field goal attempts over their last three games. Five of their six opponents this season have connected on 43 or more field goal attempts. The Lakers have been one of their slower-paced teams in the league so far this season but I think they can be dragged into a track meet here as they play the second of back-to-back nights off a win over the Raptors on Sunday. Despite hoisting up 82 or fewer field goal attempts in all seven games, they've made good on 40+ in five of seven contests. On the flip side, the Raptors shot 45-for-105 against them last night and they've allowed four of their last six opponents to connect on more than 40 field goal attempts. Take the over (8*).
