My free play is the Cubs +1.5 runs. The Dodgers were swept at home by Boston over the weekend and followed that up with a 10-5 loss to the Cubs on Monday night. While Los Angeles still has the most talented roster in baseball, they haven't been playing their best lately, and they've run into two of the hottest teams in the league over their last two series. The Cubs have been on an impressive 30-15 run since June 11 and have been one of the best offenses in baseball against lefthanded pitching. They rank second in MLB in batting average versus lefthanded starters this season and lead the league in OPS against lefties during this recent stretch. Tarik Skubal should continue to pitch well with his new team, but I believe the Cubs are the play tonight on the run line. Thanks and best of luck! Jack Banks.

Los Angeles has seen its NL West lead over Arizona shrink to 9.0 games, and manager Dave Roberts should have his club fully focused in this important payback spot. Left-hander Tarik Skubal will make his first start for Los Angeles after a strong July with Detroit. Over five starts against Baltimore, Kansas City, the Angels, Philadelphia, and Oakland, No. 29 allowed just seven earned runs and 22 hits across 31.0 innings, striking out 41 while walking six. That produced a 3-1 record and an excellent 2.03 ERA. Across his last 78 starts, Skubal has allowed only 129 earned runs and 357 hits in 450.0 innings, good for a 38-15 record and a sharp 2.58 ERA. Right-hander Javier Assad gets the start for Chicago.
