At 7:05 pm, our complimentary selection is on the New York Yankees over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Yankees figured to go after two things at the deadline: a RH hitting catcher and some relief pitching help. They got neither although they did acquire IF Luis Garcia Jr. from the Nats and OF Helios Ramos from the Giants. They could have used some relief pitching help last night in the first game of this series at home against the Cards. St. Louis tagged the Yankee bullpen for nine runs enroute to a 13-7 rout. New York will send LHP Ryan Weathers to the mound for Game 2 tonight. The 26-year-old has had a bit of an unlucky streak this season, pitching to a solid 3.99 ERA in 21 starts while logging a won-lost record of just 4-7. He was sensational in his last start against the White Sox, blanking Chicago over seven innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four. His offense didn't help him that day, but that's hopefully where Garcia Jr. and Ramos will start paying off. The Yankees have won three of Weathers' last four starts. Take New York. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.MLB - Moneyline - Tue, Aug 04 @ 07:10 PM

AAA Sports' Selection: Chicago White Sox (ML). Chicago will start Davis Martin -- His July statistics weren't too good. But, he's still had a great year and has been a huge piece in CWS's success. The White Sox made some buying moves at the deadline yesterday and are going for it this season. Boston will start Patrick Sandoval -- He's only pitched four times this year and has been slightly worse in home games. The Red Sox haven't really had a strong year other than their 15-game winning streak. We're on Chicago.MLB - Moneyline - Tue, Aug 04 @ 07:15 PM

(#954) Atlanta Braves | ML | . Ryan Gusto (0-2, 5.31 ERA) vs. Grant Holmes (6-4, 3.88 ERA) . Despite the winning record, I'm still not a huge fan of this Miami Marlins team. They've had a great season considering the roster. However, I don't believe that they are going to be able to keep up with the top teams in the MLB as we near crunch time in this MLB season. Ryan Gusto gets the nod on Tuesday and he's been poor this season. On the other hand, Grant Holmes has been pretty average. I know that average isn't excellent by any means. But, he gets the job done for the most part when called upon. I am also much more impressed with Atlanta's lineup. At home, give me the Braves at this price. Burns' Prediction: 6-2 Braves.MLB - Over / Under - Tue, Aug 04 @ 07:40 PM

Jim Feist’s free play for Tuesday, August 4 is Minnesota and Kansas City OVER. Minnesota will have Joe Ryan on the mound. He has a solid 3.52 ERA but Kansas City has already scored five earned runs off him this season in their first meeting. Kansas City will counter with Randy Dobnak who has an impressive 1.04 ERA but the sample size is very small. He will get his first real test with a Minnesota lineup that has had much better power and on-base numbers as of late. The Royals bullpen is also another factor in play here as they have a bloated 5.40 ERA which ranks second worst in all of baseball. Minnesota and Kansas City have also had finals of 8-6 and 6-5 in their previous meetings showing that both offenses have what it takes to push this game into the double digits. Jim Feist’s free play: Minnesota Twins-Kansas City Royals OVER the Total.MLB - Over / Under - Tue, Aug 04 @ 07:40 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers Under 7.5 (-105) (Consensus Line)
My selection is on the 'under' between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee at 7:40 pm et on Tuesday. We saw a relatively low-scoring affair to open this series last night as the Pirates came away with a 4-3 victory. I'll call for more of the same scoring-wise on Tuesday as we have an even better starting p...
My selection is on the 'under' between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee at 7:40 pm et on Tuesday. We saw a relatively low-scoring affair to open this series last night as the Pirates came away with a 4-3 victory. I'll call for more of the same scoring-wise on Tuesday as we have an even better starting pitching matchup. Jared Jones and Logan Henderson are by no means household names but they're two of the better young starting pitchers in the game today. Neither team has seen all that much of the opposition hurler in this case with the Buccos totalling only four at-bats against Henderson and the Brewers just 12 against Jones. Both bullpens figure to have all of their higher-leverage arms available and keep in mind the Pirates bolstered their 'pen with the addition of Luke Weaver prior to the trade deadline. A first to three or first to four wins type of affair is what I'm expecting on Tuesday at American Family Field. Take the under (8*).MLB - Run Line - Tue, Aug 04 @ 08:05 PM
Los Angeles Dodgers (Tarik Skubal) vs Chicago Cubs (Javier Assad)
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-125) (Consensus Line)
The Dodgers just made a move for Detroit’s T Skubal, so why not start taking him on this team now !!! In 6 starts against the National League Skubal had given up just 2 earned runs of less in 5 of them.

My free play is the Cubs +1.5 runs. The Dodgers were swept at home by Boston over the weekend and followed that up with a 10-5 loss to the Cubs on Monday night. While Los Angeles still has the most talented roster in baseball, they haven't been playing their best lately, and they've run into two of the hottest teams in the league over their last two series. The Cubs have been on an impressive 30-15 run since June 11 and have been one of the best offenses in baseball against lefthanded pitching. They rank second in MLB in batting average versus lefthanded starters this season and lead the league in OPS against lefties during this recent stretch. Tarik Skubal should continue to pitch well with his new team, but I believe the Cubs are the play tonight on the run line. Thanks and best of luck! Dodgers F5 -0.5 Tarik Skubal is in his first start with the LA Dodgers. He goes under the bright lights at Wrigley Field, and I like his chances of pitching well in his first start. Assad is one of the Cubs biggest weaknesses as a starter. In limited at bats against him this Dodgers lineup has a wOBA of nearly .500 against him. Assad is likely to get hit hard here. Skubal gets it done in start one. (12-1 last 13 MLB Run Line plays. MLB Tuesday Best Bet is a run line selection!)MLB - Run Line - Tue, Aug 04 @ 08:05 PM

#957 LA DODGERS RUN LINE with Skubal (-1' -130) over Chicago with Assad at 8:05 PM EST After four straight losses by a combined 30-15 margin, the Dodgers are in a strong position to respond when they visit the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Los Angeles has seen its NL West lead over Arizona shrink to 9.0 games, and manager Dave Roberts should have his club fully focused in this important payback spot. Left-hander Tarik Skubal will make his first start for Los Angeles after a strong July with Detroit. Over five starts against Baltimore, Kansas City, the Angels, Philadelphia, and Oakland, No. 29 allowed just seven earned runs and 22 hits across 31.0 innings, striking out 41 while walking six. That produced a 3-1 record and an excellent 2.03 ERA. Across his last 78 starts, Skubal has allowed only 129 earned runs and 357 hits in 450.0 innings, good for a 38-15 record and a sharp 2.58 ERA. Right-hander Javier Assad gets the start for Chicago. In five July appearances, including three starts, No. 72 allowed only three earned runs and 18 hits in 18.0 innings, striking out 17 and walking five while posting a 1.50 ERA. However, his career history against the Dodgers is a concern: in two appearances, including one start, Assad has yet to record a decision and owns a 13.50 ERA. The run-line trends also support Los Angeles. Chicago has failed to cover the run line in 236 of its last 445 games overall, 142 of its last 242 after a win, 129 of its last 221 at home, and 169 of its last 316 against National League opponents. Skubal’s first start for the Dodgers comes in a high-profile spot at Wrigley Field, and the former Cy Young winner has the form to make an immediate impact. Take Los Angeles on the run line with Skubal. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.Get Free Picks, Big Game alerts, and Winning Info from our champion handicappers.
