Analysis
I’m taking Chicago +3 against Seattle on Monday night. Seattle should rightfully be favored at home, but I like how Chicago has been playing on offense too much to lay a field goal against them. Offensively, Caleb Williams has played out of his mind over his last two games. Since coming back healthy, Williams has totaled 305 and 308 passing yards in consecutive wins, tossing three touchdowns and zero interceptions along the way. Chicago is averaging 30, 31 and 59 points in Williams’ three games where he’s been completely healthy, as the Bears offense ranks third in the NFL, averaging 390.7 yards per game. Williams gives Chicago more than enough offense to keep pace with Seattle one possession at a time, even with how good their defense has been this season. Chicago also dominates Seattle on paper when it comes to rushing the football. The Bears rushing attack ranks No. 1 in the NFL, averaging 154.3 yards per game, and D’Andre Swift has performed well rushing the football all season long. Seattle’s pass defense is going to make it difficult for Chicago to throw the football, so Ben Johnson does not need to force Williams into airing it out 40+ times per game. Instead, Johnson can lean on the run game, utilize play action and keep the Bears offense in comfortable down-and-distance situations. Defensively, the Bears have improved against the pass over their last two games. Opponents are just 5-for-19 on third down and 0-for-4 on fourth down over Chicago’s last two games. This will be vital against Seattle because Chicago does not have to completely lock down Sam Darnold for four straight quarters. If they can just get off the field on a handful of drives, they can prevent the Seahawks from establishing any sort of lead. Chicago also signed All Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons this week and he is expected to make his Bears debut on Monday night. Simmons could be a game changer along Chicago’s defensive line, as Seattle will also be without starting left tackle Charles Cross. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Rashid Shaheed will also be inactive Monday night, taking away another weapon from the Seahawks offense. Chicago is 5-2 against the spread this season, and 8-4 ATS as an underdog with Ben Johnson as head coach. Seattle’s defense should keep them in this game, but Chicago’s rushing attack, quarterback play and improved defense keeps me interested in taking the points here on Monday Night. Jim's Play : 265. Bears
