Analysis
#266 ASA PLAY ON Seattle Seahawks -3 over Chicago Bears, Monday at 8:15 PM ET Despite their 4-3 record, Seattle has the 2nd best YPP margin in the NFL behind San Francisco. Their YPG margin is +110 which is the best mark in the NFL. This team is much better than their record while their facing a Chicago team that is overvalued right now. The Bears are 5-2, however they rank 27th in the NFL with a negative YPP margin. They do have a positive YPG margin however that is misleading because they’ve run an average of 22 more offensive snaps per game than their opponents (by far the best margin in the league). The Bears actually lead the NFL averaging 72 offensive snaps per game while also leading the NFL in opponents snaps per game at 50. They’ve controlled the clock by running the ball better than anyone else in the league. We don’t think that happens here. Seattle has the best defense in the NFL (both YPP and YPG) and they are allowing only 89 YPG rushing on 3.5 YPC. They lead the NFL in defensive EPA vs the run. Chicago definitely won’t bully this team at the line of scrimmage. Seattle has been outgained on a YPP basis only once this season and that was a 3 points loss vs San Francisco. In their other 2 losses, the Seahawks had a +2.8 and +1.4 YPP margins. Problem is, they were -7 turnovers in those 2 losses. This team could easily be 6-1 right now and then we wouldn’t be laying only a FG with them at home in this game. Seattle is coming off a dominating home performance vs Kansas City (20-3 win) in a game they outgained the Chiefs by +1.6 YPP and held the KC offense to just 4.3 YPP and 213 total yards. Seattle gets a huge boost on offense with RB’s Charbonnet and Price both cleared to play. They also added one of the top offensive lineman in the NFL trading for Quenton Nelson (from Colts) who will be in the starting lineup. Tough travel for Chicago as teams crossing 2+ time zones this year are 7-13 ATS. Huge edge on defense here (Seattle #1 YPP D and Chicago #32 YPP D) and the home crowd is always tough in Seattle. We’ll lay the small number with the much better team in our opinion.
