Off yesterday's 7-4 road loss to the Pirates, the Brewers will get back on track with a strong performance on the road against the Orioles. Baltimore just swept New York in the Big Apple and manager Craig Albernaz and his boys will get roasted here.
Big right-hander Dustin May will toe the rubber for the visitors. In a pair of September starts against the Reds, No. 21 was scratched for only two earned runs and seven hits in 9.2 innings of work. Dustin whiffed 11 and walked one on his way to a 1-0 record with a blistering 1.86 ERA. Overall, since coming over from the Cardinals, May has made seven total starts and surrendered 16 earned runs and 27 hits in 29.1 frames. After the math, that equates to a 2-2 mark with a 4.91 ERA.
Young southpaw Cade Povich will pick up the pearl for the home team. Battling the Rockies, Rangers, and Angels in his last three starts, No. 38 was bumped for four earned runs and 16 hits in 14.0 innings. Cade whiffed 13 and walked six on his way to a 1-0 record with a 2.57 ERA. In his three-year career with the O's, Povich has appeared in 45 games (42 starts) and been punched for 126 earned runs and 240 hits in 225.1 frames. That's bad enough for an 8-18 tally with a stiff 5.03 ERA.
Several strong team trends support this Best Bet. Milwaukee has picked up wins in 289 of its last 489 overall, 113 of its last 197 when coming off a loss, 75 of its last 130 when priced as a road favorite, and 88 of its last 139 when facing an American League foe. On the other side of the yard, Baltimore has fallen in 74 of its last 139 when facing a non-league opponent.
