- The Dodgers picked up a game on the Brewers yesterday in the chase for the top spot in the NL, now just two games back. This is the first game back at home after a long road trip and the bullpen has been taxed, with Blake Snell pitching just an inning on Wednesday and Justin Wrobleski was used as just an extended opener last night pitching three innings. Tyler Glasnow has good numbers in 11 starts but he has a 4.56 ERA at Dodger Stadium, and he has posted back-to-back starts allowing four runs. The bullpen for the Dodgers has a 4.86 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP in the past 10 games and if Los Angeles does not win a third straight World Series, relief pitching will likely be a significant factor. In a lost season the Giants have had some recent success at the plate, batting .274 with 5.8 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handed pitching. In that span the Dodgers have 5.1 runs per nine vs. left-handers and rookie Cesar Perdomo isn’t a great candidate for a dominant outing. Perdomo had a 5.10 ERA in AAA and while in a small MLB sample his numbers are adequate, his K/9 is only 6.8 and he allowed five runs in his last start. San Francisco owns a 4-3 series lead this season and the Giants won two games at Dodger Stadium in May. San Francisco has posted at least five runs in six of the past nine games, but the pitching staff has allowed at least five runs in five of the past seven games. It will be relatively cool in Los Angeles tonight but there is some impactful wind pushing out to center field for a pair of teams that are both top 10 team wOBA producers since September 1 and both in MLB’s top eight in scoring in that span.
