- #919/920 ASA PLAY ON Under 8.5 Runs (-110) – Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Angels, Friday at 9:38 PM ET - Yesterday the Angels led Minnesota 3-1 in the top of the 9th with a Twin on first base and two outs. The game was one pitch away from finishing a 3-1 Angels win. Ultimately the Angels did win but it ended up being a 5-4 win for LA in extra innings as Minnesota tied it up with a 2-run homer in the top of the 9th. The point is that it should have been another easy under like so many other Angels games throughout the 2nd half of this season. The Angels slugging percentage since the All Star break is a paltry .331 and that is dead last in the majors at #30 while the Twins have not been much better and they rank 26th over that same period! As for the pitchers here, Connor Prielipp is 2-0 with a 3.14 ERA in his 3 starts this month and he faces the weakest lineup in the majors in this one tonight. As for Los Angeles, Grayson Rodriguez shows a very high full season ERA to the betting markets but he has pitched better of late. If you look at his last five starts, Rodriguez had a rough outing at Fenway Park but in the other 4 starts he allowed a total of only 7 earned runs in 25 innings for a 2.52 ERA in those 4 outings. He is facing a Twins team that, not including extra innings runs, has averaged just 2.5 runs scored in their last 11 games as they have endured a 3-8 slump. The Angels have one high-scoring win in their last 15 home games but in the other 14 games they have gone 4-10 and, not including extra innings runs, have averaged scoring just 2.5 runs per game in that 14-game stretch. Our computer math model projects a total of only 6 to 7 runs here and even if it gets to 7 that is still a winning ticket for us. Bet the Under in this one.
