Analysis
Houston is coming into this game with a 2-0 record this season and they are coming off of a 77-6 win at home against Southern in their last game. The offense played great in that game, but they also played against a much weaker opponent. They opened the season with a 33-20 win at home against Oregon State, a game which saw 53 points total, and now they are going on the road for the 1st time this season, it also being their 1st conference game. They are going up against a Texas Tech team that is 2-0 this season and they are coming off of a 35-24 win on the road against Oregon State in their last game. That game saw 59 points total as their defense allowed 24 points, but they opened the season with a 33-10 win at home against ACU in a game which saw 43 points total. The defense was much better at home in that game, playing against a much weaker opponent, but they have a lot of quality on defense as one of the better teams in the conference. They had one of the better offenses last season as well, but the offense has not been as good in their 2 games this season and Will Hammond has struggled taking over at the QB position. Houston has a very good defense as well and that defense is going to get up for this game on the road as they have a chance to win a big game here with possible playoff implications. Neither team is going to want to fall behind in such an important game, so the offenses could take some time to get going here as they feel each other out. Both teams are also going to lean heavily on the run game here and that is going to help take time off the clock with longer drives. This is going to be a low scoring and more defensive game that stays under the total.
