- #910 ASA PLAY ON Houston Astros -131 over Toronto Blue Jays, Monday at 8:10 PM ET - The Astros continue red hot as they won their 6th straight game yesterday and are 11-1 in their last dozen games. Big edges here for Houston including the fact that they were at home yesterday while the Blue Jays were also at home up in Toronto yesterday. So the Jays had to fly down to southeastern Texas after playing in Canada yesterday. The schedule situation certainly favors the Astros in this one. Also, Houston has not only won 11 of its last 12 games, they have scored an average of 6 runs in these dozen games. That is bad news for a Blue Jays team that simply can not hit right now! Toronto is on a 7-11 slide and has scored an average of only 2.9 runs in their last 15 games. The pitching matchup is why the line on Houston is not higher here and we like the 'hidden value' aspect of this one. Shane Bieber is a big name pitcher so the markets factor that in of course. Bieber has a reputation but also enters this start off an outing in which he walked 6 batters and could not make it out of the first inning. That was his 4th rough start out of his 7 starts this season and the rough ones included a bad outing versus the Astros in June. Houston starts Cristian Javier here and he shows the markets an ugly ERA but all of that rough stuff was back in late March and April. Since coming back last month from the shoulder strain he was recovering from, Javier has a 3.00 ERA across 5 outings and he struck out 17 in 12 innings. Also, he is supported by an Astros pen that has been performing better and overall Houston has allowed an average of only 3 runs per game in the 11 victories in their current 11-1 run. Javier looked good in getting stretched out to 70 pitches in his most recent appearance and we expect him to give the slumping Blue Jays bats a lot of trouble here.
