Analysis
I think Morocco can win outright on Friday. This is one of those matchups where I like basing my decision off of which team has more talent and which team has more bite to its attack. Morocco’s opening result was a 1-1 draw with Brazil, which was one of the best outcomes of group play overall. Scotland boss Steve Clarke calling Morocco “even better” than the squad that reached the semifinals at USA 2022. Clarke also hinted Scotland would probably be forced into a more defensive mindset here, perhaps even utilizing a five-man backline because Scotland’s biggest worry has to be Morocco’ s play on the wings, particularly Achraf Hakimi. If you’re setting up that way, it usually means a lot: Scotland has the matchup figured out and realizes Morocco has more chance to control the outcomes when the game does get dangerous. Scotland also struggled more against its Group G opponent. Haiti is not Brazil. Yes, Scotland got the 1-0 win, but it was far from convincing. Coupled with Scotland manager Steve Clarke preparing his team to “try not to lose” instead of try to win this match, I like betting on which team has the higher potential to win by multiple goals. Morocco does not need to explode for six or seven goals to win this football game. If it’s tactical and boring, that normally benefits Morocco because they have enough individual talent to change a 1-0 or 2-0 game with a single play. Jim's Play: 225349 Morocco
