- Analysis
- Cam Schlittler made some noise in the postseason for the Yankees last season, and he has starred in the rotation in 2026 with a 1.82 ERA. Schlittler has a much higher FIP and he will have a hard time maintaining his current .257 BABIP and a strand rate of over 81 percent for a whole season. Schlittler has been dominant in his road innings but closer to average at home with a 3.03 ERA at Yankee Stadium and the bulk of his innings this season have been road innings. Schlittler only has delivered one quality start at home since mid-April and only two such outings at home all season. New York is pulling away in the AL East with five or more runs scored in seven of the past 10 games on an 8-2 run. New York has hit .270 with 7.2 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handed pitching. Cincinnati’s bullpen has struggled all season with a 4.93 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP, and the Reds haven’t received a six-inning starting effort in any of the past six games. Rhett Lowder has average numbers in 10 starts for the Reds but he owns a high walk rate and poor road results with a 5.84 road ERA. He has made just two starts since being sent down for a month and those were both much more favorable draws than tonight’s pairing will be in a ballpark favoring offense. The weather will support home run potential as well Friday night with warm temperatures still approaching 80 at first pitch and a rather substantial wind pushing to right center tonight as multiple home runs seem possible in this interleague pairing.
