- My selection is on the 'over' between Baltimore and Los Angeles at 10:10 pm et on Friday.
I think we'll see plenty of offense in this weekend series between the Orioles and Dodgers, beginning with Friday's matchup. Rookie Trey Gibson will take the ball for Baltimore and he'll be tasked with keeping the Dodgers mighty bats at bay. Los Angeles has cooled off at the plate over the last week but that's not saying much as it still ranks top-five in the majors in xwOBA over that stretch. Gibson has yet to turn in a truly positive start this season. He did hold the Rays to one earned run over 5 2/3 innings at home but needed to throw 100 pitches and barely threw more strikes than balls in that outing. His four starts have produced 14, 13, 9 and 12 total runs and he's made it through five innings only once. Roki Sasaki will counter for the Dodgers. He looked like he was starting to turn things around before getting lit up for seven earned runs over 4 1/3 innings against the White Sox last time out. While he has been marginally better at home than on the road this season, I expect him to have his hands full against an Orioles club that ranks top-eight in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Baltimore figures to be in a foul mood after getting shut out by Bryan Woo and the Mariners pitching staff yesterday. The O's bullpen has been shaky at best this season, particularly on the road where it has recorded a 5.57 ERA And 1.44 WHIP. The Dodgers bullpen is capable of shutting Baltimore's bats down but I think we'll see enough offense scattered throughout this game to ultimately push it 'over' the total. Take the over (8*).
