- The Cavaliers are coming into this game off of a 4-3 series win against the Raptors in the last round. The Cavaliers needed all 7 games to get through the Raptors and they lost all 3 road games in the series as well. They were not awful in these road games though as their last 2 losses on the road were both by 4 points or less and they had some chances to win in those games as well. They lost 93-89 in game 4 after blowing a 10 point lead that they had for most of the game and they also had a chance to end the series in game 6 as they lost 112-110 in OT. The Cavaliers also had the home advantage in that series and did not need to push too hard on the road as they were able to win all of those home games, but now they are starting this series on the road and the onus is on them to win a road game. The Cavaliers are going to get up for this 1st game of the series and they will be pushing hard to get a win on the road right away and give themselves the advantage in this series. They are going up against a Pistons team that had the best record in the Eastern Conference this season, but they do not have a lot of playoff experience as they are a younger team and they certainly struggled in that 1st round despite being the 1 seed. They needed all 7 games to get by the Magic who were the 8th seed and they were even down 3-1 in that series with the Magic pushing them to the edge of elimination. They were able to come back in the series, but they have not been very dominant in their games and their offense has also been struggling a lot. They have been held under 100 points in 3 of their last 6 games while the Cavaliers were held under 110 points in just 2 of their 7 games in that series. The Pistons do not have many scoring options after Cunningham and the Cavaliers were also very good against the Pistons this season, going 2-2 against them with both losses coming by 4 points or less. The Cavaliers will cover the spread in this game.
