Analysis
#929 ATLANTA with Elder (+) over Seattle with Kirby at 9:40 PM EST Juiced up off last night's frustrating 5-4 road loss to the M's, the Braves will get right back on track with a solid effort in this rematch. Atlanta is resting in first place in the NL East with a commanding 8.5-game advantage and manager Walt Weiss will have his kids primed and ready to respond. Sizzling right-hander Bryce Elder will pick up the pearl for the visitors. With six quality starts in the bank for April, No. 55 was touched for only nine earned runs and 27 hits in 37.0 innings. Bryce whiffed 31 and walked 12 on his way to a 2-1 record with an outstanding 2.19 ERA. In his two road starts against the Nats and Diamondbacks, Elder was scratched for only three earned runs and seven hits in 13.2 frames. That shakes down to a 1-1 mark with a respectable 1.97 ERA. On the hill for the home team will be righty George Kirby. In the month of April, No. 68 made six starts and was tapped for 14 earned runs and 38 hits in 39.0 innings. George fanned 28 and issued nine free passes on his way to a 3-2 record with a 3.23 ERA. Matched up against the Rangers, Astros, and Yankees in his last three home outings, Kirby was clipped for seven earned runs and 19 hits in 19.1 frames. That adds up to a 2-1 tally with a 3.26 ERA. On a technical note, Atlanta has tasted victory in eight of its last 10 when coming off a loss, 13 of its last 18 as a guest, and 21 of its last 32 when rolling without rest. Meanwhile, Seattle has fallen in 15 of its last 23 when playing under the lights and 11 of its last 20 in non-division play. The Braves have the best record in baseball and they will bounce back in a big way with one of their best arms on the bump. Take Atlanta with Elder. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.
