Analysis: My selection is on the 'under' between Furman and Connecticut at 10 pm et on Friday. Furman shot the lights out for much of the regular season and into its conference tournament but it did so against much weaker opponents than it will face in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Look back at the Paladins' non-conference slate and you'll see that they struggled offensively when facing tougher opposition, scoring 61, 54 and 65 points against the likes of Troy, Northern Iowa and Illinois State, respectively. I think Furman will be content with running its half-court offense against a disciplined Connecticut defense here - it won't have much other choice. The Huskies got run over by St. John's in the Big East Tournament final but prior to that had held six straight and eight of their last nine opponents to 25 or fewer made field goals. In fact, they held that same St. John's team to just 11 made field goals in a 72-40 rout back on February 25th. UConn doesn't look to push the pace often - in fact, it checks in as one of the slowest paced teams in this tournament as far as adjusted tempo goes. Take the under (8*).
