Analysis
#872 NORTH CAROLINA (-) over Syracuse at 7 PM EST On fire off three straight wins and covers over Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Notre Dame, North Carolina will make it four straight when Syracuse comes to town. The Tar Heels have a huge rivalry game inside the Smith Center against the Blue Devils on Saturday and head coach Hubert Davis will make sure his troops tune up for that challenge with a statement victory here. Historically, UNC has played well in this ACC series inking a reliable 14-3 SU record (8-7-2 ATS) in the last 17 meetings. Equally impressive, at home facing a foe that arrives with momentum off a straight up win, the Tar Heels sport a strong 58-15 SU and 42-27-3 ATS mark including a tremendous 33-11 SU and 27-15-2 ATS provided this is a conference game. With those two parameters live and North Carolina facing a foe that enters off a straight up win of six points or more, this angle explodes to a phenomenal 24-5 SU and 21-7-1 ATS including an elite 23-1 SU and 19-4-1 ATS provided Coach Davis and his men are priced as a favorite of -4 or more. Kudos to the 'Cuse for their win and cover over a soft Fighting Irish squad. However, backing a Syracuse team that owns a mediocre 9-9 SU and 7-11 ATS record in its last 18 games isn't going to happen anytime soon. To make matters worse, in true road games facing a foe that slips in with steam off a straight up win, the Orange own a horrible 6-24 SU and 10-19-1 ATS mark including a nasty 5-17 SU and ATS provided head coach Adrian Autry and his boys hold a team won/loss percentage of .540 or higher. With those two parameters in play and Syracuse priced as a pup of +3 or more, this angle falls to a ridiculous 1-15 SU and ATS including 0-12 SU and ATS provided the Orangemen played in the comforts of home last. The Tar Heels have been lights out in the Smith Center this season (12-0 SU with an avg victory margin of 22.3 ppg) and they'll have no trouble extending the margin here. Take North Carolina. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.
