Analysis: The Utah Mammoth are a monster play tonight, as they should win big on home ice tonight. I know the Mammoth have lost two in a row, but this is the perfect spot for them to bounce back and return to the form that saw them win nine of 11 from Jan. 5-27. The first loss of this skid was in Carolina at the end of a four-game trip, while the second was the team's first game back in Salt Lake City with only one day of rest after traveling from Nashville to Tampa to Sunrise to Raleigh over six days. The Mammoth should be rested now that they've been home for a few days and should be more than ready for the league's worst team. The Vancouver Canucks have been one the most disappointing team in the NHL this season, and as we come into the final week before the Olympic break, I would imagine they want nothing more than to pack it in and regroup for three weeks. The 'Nucks just finished an eight-game homestand with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Glancing back to Dec. 22, Vancouver is mired in a 3-14-3 skid and has been outscored by an average final of 4.1 to 2.2. Adding insult to injury, its power play has been outscored 19-8 during the losing skid. Utah rolls to a huge win tonight.
