Analysis: At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the New York Islanders over the Washington Capitals. On Saturday night, the Caps finally won back-to-back games for the first time in almost two months. And the fact that they did it against the Carolina Hurricanes made it even more of an achievement. But the real surprising part was that they were able to defeat arguably the best team in the conference with a third-string goalie playing in just his second career NHL game. Both first stringer Logan Thompson and back-up Charlie Lindgren are out with injuries which means the Caps had to call up 26-year-old Clay Stevenson for the net-minding duties on Saturday and the inexperienced goalie came through for DC. But the goalies aren't the only ones currently on the sidelines for the Caps as they are also without forwards Connor McMichael and Pierre-Luc Dubois as well as defensemen Matt Roy and Martin Fehervary. The Caps beat the Isles in the last meeting back in November and New York is 4-1 in five road games when revenging a same season loss. Take the Isles. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
