At the quarterback position, preseason Heisman hopeful LaNorris Sellers will do battle with current Heisman frontrunner Ty Simpson. Both players are high on NFL Draft boards for next spring but could return to college in 2026 instead. Like SC, Alabama is in the middle of a tough stretch of games. The Crimson Tide’s only non-ranked opponent on the schedule between September 27th and November 15th (seven games) is South Carolina, a team that reached the top 10 earlier this season. Perhaps adding to the program’s hopes for an upset and added motivation, the 2010 team will be having a 15-year reunion this weekend. That team won the SEC East and knocked off the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at Williams-Brice. Current South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer was an assistant on Steve Spurrier’s staff that season. The offensive line has been underwhelming so far, but the ground game has had a few nice moments. It didn't go anywhere against Oklahoma last week, but it rumbled against Kentucky in the win and was able to keep it close against LSU. To pull this off, South Carolina has to be a brick wall against the run. It's 3-0 when allowing fewer than 146 rushing yards, 0-4 and Alabama has only rushed for more than 146 yards once, and that was against ULM. South Carolina is way, way, way overdue to come up with a big game when the solid playmakers rise up and produce. Alabama won't do much of anything on the ground, and South Carolina will generate enough of a pass rush to matter to Lee the scoring down within the number. The Tide will have to work for it, but they'll survive with a big push in the fourth quarter though not cover, and then it's on to the two-week break.
