- #187 ALABAMA (-) over South Carolina at 3:30 PM EST
Firing on all cylinders right now on a blistering 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS run, the Crimson Tide will travel to Williams-Brice Stadium and have no trouble extending the margin against this struggling Gamecocks bunch. Offensively, South Carolina is a challenged group this season averaging only 20.0 points and 297.7 yards per game and they’ll have trouble scoring matched up against an Elephants stop unit that has allowed an average of only 17.7 points and 309.1 total yards per game.
Historically speaking, the Tide have played well in this series, inking a strong 7-3 SU (4-6 ATS) record in the last 10 meetings. Equally impressive, in true road games lined up against an opponent that faced a conference opponent last, head coach Kalen DeBoer and his boys sport a highly profitable 73-33 SU and 69-37 ATS mark including a stunning 55-17 SU and 51-21 ATS provided their opponent is not rested. Finally, in true road wars lined up against a foe that holds a team won/loss percentage less than .500, the Crimson Tide sport a solid 32-3 SU and 24-10-1 ATS tally including a money-making 23-3 SU and 19-7 ATS record provided their opponent slips in without steam off a straight up loss.
South Carolina is stuck right in the middle of a brutal college football schedule right now. Off straight up losses to No. 11/11 LSU and No. 14/13 Oklahoma, head coach Shane Beamer and his kids must now face No. 4/4 Alabama, No. 8/8 Mississippi, and No. 3/3 Texas A&M. That’s a tall order for any program. To make matters worse, when lined up against an opponent that enters with confidence off a SU and ATS victory, the Gamecocks hold an elite 7-16 SU and 8-15 ATS record in their last 23 games. In this setting playing in the comforts of home, South Carolina falls to a woeful 5-5 SU and 3-7 ATS. Lastly, at home rolling with revenge, the Gamecocks hold a poor 6-12 SU and 5-12-1 ATS record in their last 18 games including just 3-9 SU and 2-10 ATS if their opponent enters with momentum off a straight up win.
Coach DeBoer has seen his team just smoke four ranked opponents in a row (Georgia, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Tennessee). Now, the Crimson Tide wants to show they can take care of business when they step down in class and face a struggling foe. The Gamecocks and their low-octane offense will be in trouble here. Take Alabama. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
