Mississippi won its first six games this season before finally falling short last weekend against Georgia in Athens (I had UGA.) This weekend, Ole Miss travels again, to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the also 6-1 Sooners. The Rebels have been tremendous offensively, but the defense has been significantly poor this season and simply not good enough for SEC standards.
On the other hand, the Sooners might just have the best defense in the country, ranked 1st in both total yards and passing yards allowed per game. Oklahoma has also allowed 9.4 PPG this season which is 2nd best in the nation. Let's not forget that it was without John Mateer for some weeks too and the offense is much better than the numbers suggest as well.
In this ranked matchup, I believe that the better defensive team should win. OU's defense has been significantly better than UGA's this season and this is also a home game for the Sooners. Expect Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium to be amped up for this massive game at high noon this weekend.
