Yesterday’s Results for SMU vs Wake Forest

Analysis: SMU is coming into this game with a 5-2 record this season and they are 3-0 in the conference. They have been playing very well in their recent games as they have won their last 3 straight games and they are coming off of a 35-24 win on the road against Clemson, but this is going to be a tough game for them to get up for. They are coming off of an emotional road win over Clemson who beat them in the ACC Championship last season, and now they are on the road again against a much weaker Wake Forest team, and SMU has a game against Miami next week. This is a bad sandwich spot for SMU and they are going up against a Wake Forest team that has been much better in their recent games. Wake Forest is 4-2 this season as well as being 1-2 in the conference, but they have won their last 2 straight games and are playing with confidence. They beat Virginia Tech on the road 30-23 and followed up with a 39-14 win on the road against Oregon State in their last game, and both of those wins came right after a very close loss to Georgia Tech 30-29 in OT. Wake Forest is also coming out of a bye so they are going to be ready to go in this game with extra time to prepare, and their offense has been playing much better. Wake Forest will be able to slow down this SMU offense that has not been great at running the ball this year, and this SMU defense certainly has some holes in the secondary that Wake Forest can exploit. Wake Forest will cover the spread in this game.
