- Notre Dame is coming off of a great season as they went 14-2 and went all the way to the National Championship before losing to Ohio State. They dominated teams with a good run game and a great defense last season, but now they are dealing with the disappointment from losing in that National Championship and it is going to be very hard for them to be as good as they were last season with the pieces they lost. They did not have a great passing game last season, but Riley Leonard was very good with his legs and they knew what they were getting with him. Now the team is rolling out CJ Carr for his 1st ever start and it is going to be on the road against another top 10 opponent and in Florida which can be a very tough place to play. The defense will still be good with Freeman coaching, but the offense struggled against stronger defenses last season and they are going to struggle to move the ball in this 1st game of the season. They are going up against a Miami team that is coming off of a great season, going 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the ACC. They missed out on the playoffs, but that will certainly be one of their goals this season and they will be eager to make a statement in this opening game against a team that was in the National Championship last season. Miami did not have a great defense last season, but they have brought in a lot of quality to fix that and their defense should show some major improvement this season. They did lose their starting QB who was drafted number 1 overall in the NFL and that will be a big blow, but Carson Beck is not a bad veteran option and he will have a lot more talent in the receiving room than he did at Georgia last season. Miami is going to have the hunger to get up for this game as they have everything to prove this season. Miami will cover the spread in this game.
