Analysis
This Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals play this series finale in Kansas City this Sunday afternoon. The Tigers have the biggest lead of all division leaders, 8.5 games over the Royals with a record of 79-58. The Royals, with a record of 70–66, will be trying to stay in the hunt for one of the two AL Wild Card spots. The Tigers are expected to start their star pitcher Tarik Skubal (11-4, 2.28 ERA) who has been absolutely lights out for Detroit, while the Royals will counter with Michael Wacha (8-10, 3.39 ERA). Skubal vs. Wacha is a battle of experience and two starting pitchers that have been reliable for their respective teams this season. Skubal brings a much higher upside to the table, though. His recent dominance against righties, combined with his career track record of being a groundball machine, leads me to believe that Skubal should be good to go here and take this one for the Tigers. The Royals, who are suddenly riding the hot bat of Vinnie Pasquantino, may be able to give Detroit a run for their money as they have been scoring runs in bunches in their last few games. Pasquantino just keeps getting better and better and is hitting .300 over his last 10 games, which includes back-to-back homers to get his season back on track after a dreadful slump earlier in the year. I see the Tigers coming out early with their best pitcher on the mound, picking up a couple of early runs, and riding that into the mid-innings to take the lead for good and cruise to an expected final win of at least three-runs. Jim's Play: 965. Tigers -1.5 Runs
