Troy vs Clemson Prediction

The current betting odds have Clemson listed as a 33.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Clemson is 0-1 overall after losing their season opener at home. They lost their season opener to LSU 17-10 and they didn't look good in that game. They only lost that game by 1 TD, but that score could have been much worse as they were completely outplayed in the 2nd half. Their defense looked good as they were able to hold up against a really good LSU offense, keeping Clemson in the game, but the offense stalled in the 2nd half and could barely move the ball. Now they will be at home again here, but they are playing against a much lesser opponent so they will be looking to take out their frustrations from that loss. Meanwhile, Troy is 1-0 overall after winning their season opener at home, but they weren't really tested at all. They beat a team from the FCS at home, beating Nicholls State 38-20, and their defense didn't look that good. They gave up 20 points at home to an offense that doesn't have nearly as much talent, and now they are going on the road against an angry Clemson team coming off a loss. Clemson is going to shred this defense for a lot of points at home and they won't take their foot off the gas with the way their offense looked last week. Their defense also looked great against a really strong LSU offense so this Troy offense isn't going to do much on the road here. The best way to place a bet here is on Clemson to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“We’ll build on what we can and the history of what Troy historically has done and discuss those things, and then obviously be truthful as well, but this roster is loaded. This is a different roster than the team we played at Iowa and certainly anything that we’ve played since I’ve been here and even better than some of the Clemson teams I’ve been a part of when I’ve played as an assistant coach. So we have our hands full. Our players will know that and understand that turning the film on, but we’ll certainly celebrate also us going to go compete and do what our program stands for in doing so and make sure and push to our players as we prepare for them.” - Gerad Parker on his team’s upcoming game against Clemson this week.

“We didn’t play anywhere near where we are capable of playing on offense. We have to own that.” - Dabo Swinney after his team’s loss against LSU in their last game.
