Steelers vs Jets Prediction
The current betting odds have the Steelers listed as a 3 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Steelers weren't a great team last season, but they did go 10-7 and made the playoffs under Tomlin as they usually do. There has been some big changes to the offense this season, but now they have a more reliable veteran QB in Aaron Rodgers to bring some consistency to this offense. They also had a really good defense last year as they usually do under Tomlin and they still have a ton of talent on that defense this year so it is not going to be easy to move the ball against them. Meanwhile, the Jets looked terrible last season with their 5-12 record overall which had them as one of the worst teams in the NFL. The defense wasn't terrible, but it got a lot worse after firing their head coach Robert Saleh mid-season. The offense wasn't great with Aaron Rodgers, but they aren't going to be any better this season now that Justin Fields is the starter. Fields has the ability to be dynamic with his legs, but he is not a great passer and that is a big reason why the Steelers benched him for Russell Wilson last season. He definitely has this game against his former team circled, but so does Aaron Rodgers as he wants to show the Jets he was not the issue with the team last season. As bad as Rodgers was last season, he is still the more reliable QB in this matchup and he is in a much better situation in Pittsburgh so they have a big advantage in this season opener, especially since they have the better defense too. The best way to place a bet here is on the Steelers to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes
“You have got to start first with their running game. Coach Aaron Glenn has been very transparent about their desire to run the football and their commitment to do so, and so that has our attention as we prepare.” - Mike Tomlin on his team’s upcoming game against the Jets in week 1.
"We have like three good running backs, and I keep saying that. Listen, they all have different skill sets that we're going to utilize. And that does not mean that I'm trading Breece. OK? Does not! So, I'm going to say that right now. I just like having three good guys. Hell, I wish I had more, but we don't." - Aaron Glenn on the team’s running back room coming into the new NFL season.
