Pittsburgh vs Virginia Prediction

The current betting odds have Virginia listed as a 14.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Virginia has looked great in their games this season with their 18-3 record overall and their 10-1 conference record which has them right near the top of the ACC. They have looked great on their home court too with their 10-1 home record this season. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has looked terrible in their games this season with their 9-13 record overall and their 2-7 conference record which has them right near the bottom of the ACC. They have been a terrible road team too with their 1-5 road record this season. Pittsburgh has been getting blown out in a lot of their road games this season and they haven't looked that great lately either. They are 1-4 in their last 5 games, coming off a double digit loss to Clemson in their last one. They have been one of the worst teams in the ACC all season as they have struggled with some of the weaker opponents and they don't have the talent to compete at a high level. Virginia has been rolling this year and they have been a bit of a surprise with how good they have looked, but they do have some really good wins under their belt so they have the talent to be a contender in the ACC. They are 4-1 in their last 5 games and have some momentum on their side again since losing to UNC, winning 2 games in a row now. They blew a big lead in that home loss to UNC and they haven't really broken out of that funk with their last 2 wins both being in very tight games against some of the worst opponents in the ACC. They still found a way to win both games on the road though, and now they are back at home where they have looked a lot better this season. This is a good game for Virginia to get right at home against one of the worst teams in the conference, so look for them to roll a Pitt team that has been terrible in road games this season. The best way to place a bet here is on Virginia to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“As far as the Clemson game goes, one of the things we have to be able to do, we have to pass. We have to pass the basketball. We have to move it, especially when you’re playing against really good teams. Clemson’s one of the better defensive teams in the country and you’re not going to be able to beat them one-on-one. We have to be able to pass the ball, get it into pockets that are there to move the ball side to side.” - Jeff Capel after his team’s loss against Clemson in their last game.

“A ton of respect for Coach Grant and their team, just really impressed. In watching them on film, the togetherness that they play with, the energy that they have on both sides of the ball, their defense is very similar, numbers-wise, to ours, and they’re tough to score on, they really are. They have guards that can get to the basket, bigs, you know, that have some skill inside and outside. They gave us everything, certainly, that we could handle. You know, today, just really proud of the guys, gritty effort overall. You know, to come away this week with two wins on the road is really, really difficult. Proud of the execution down the stretch.” - Ryan Odom after his team’s win against BC in their last game.
