Notre Dame vs Miami Prediction

The current betting odds have Notre Dame listed as a 2.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Notre Dame had a great season last year, finishing 14-2 overall and making a really deep run in the playoffs. They came up short, but they are returning a lot of the talent that they had last season, on both offense and defense, and they will be looking to pick up right where they left off as an elite program. They have a solid head coach who has proven that he can win big games and he is going to have his team ready right out of the gate here. They have a new starting QB so the offense is going to look a bit different, but most of the players are returning on offense so they won't really take a step back. The defense was also the true star of this team and they are returning a lot of those players from last season too so this defense is going to continue to keep them in every game they play. Meanwhile, Miami also had a great season last year as they were 10-3 overall and missed out on the playoffs. They were 6-2 in their conference and have been one of the strongest forces in the ACC over the last few seasons, but they have changed a lot of the players on their roster and will look like a different team this year. Their defense was also terrible last season, giving up a ton of points, and it was their offense that bailed them out a lot and kept them in games. They lost their starting QB to the NFL though and Carson Beck just hasn't looked as good as Ward has over the years. Beck will be playing this season with something to prove, but it won't be easy moving the ball against this defense. Notre Dame is the better team considering how they have the much stronger defense to help them out and they have the better head coach when it comes to in-game decision making. The best way to place a bet here is on Notre Dame to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"Statistically, as close to any quarterback competition I've ever been a part of. I was looking for that to be the reason to make a decision, and it wasn't clear." - Marcus Freeman on CJ Carr winning the starting QB job.

"I think Akheem Mesidor has taken the biggest step. I think him and Anez Cooper, they play off each other. They're always trying to knock each other around. One's a guard, one's at end, but, you know, you end up colliding right and to that point, I think it's worth pointing out the benefit of having great alumni, a guy like Jon Vilma, who lives locally, who had an opportunity to address the team, and the importance of making it a player led team, of the accountability that comes with that and what it really means on a daily basis. Not by name, not by title, not by post or tweet, but what it really demands and commands of a team that's led by its own players. So those two guys really stick out." - Mario Cristobal on his team coming into this new college football season.
