Patriots vs Seahawks Prediction

The current betting odds have the Seahawks listed as a 3.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Seahawks had a great season going 14-3 in the regular season and they are the defending Super Bowl champions. They beat up on the Patriots in the Super Bowl with a 29-13 win and the game wasn't really close. The Patriots had no offense for 3 quarters and couldn't do anything against that Seahawks defense that was one of the best in the league. The Seahawks did lose Kenneth Walker along with their offensive coordinator, but they still have a lot of the talent on offense that won them the Super Bowl last year. The defense is going to look really similar too, so the Patriots are going to have trouble moving the ball again with this being a road game this time. Meanwhile, the Patriots have done a lot to improve their offense this season with some new receivers. Drake Maye should also continue to improve now that he is in his 3rd season, but they weren't able to run the ball against this defense and the offensive line was also a big issue for them in that game. The Patriots also benefitted from having one of the worst schedules in the league and they caught a lot of breaks on their playoff run too. Now they are going to have a much tougher 1st place schedule this season and could be in line to take a step back, especially dealing with the hangover of the Super Bowl loss. The Patriots could be an improved team this season with a worse record due to a tougher schedule, but they weren't competitive at all in the Super Bowl and they haven't made enough changes to really change that in this rematch to open up the season. The best way to place a bet here is on the Seahawks to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“The teams will be a little bit different, but they’re good up front. We’ll have to block them better. We’ll have to be able to stand up at the line of scrimmage, be able to stop the run. We’re going to have to get some turnovers. We always say that, but that was really the thing – we did a decent job in the last time we played them.” - Mike Vrabel on his team’s defense coming into this season opener against the Seahawks.

"It would have been great to close it out with a win, but as I just told our team, the body of work that they've been able to put together up to this point, I just tip my cap to our guys, our team, our coaches, our staff. If you trust the work that I've seen our team do and put in and the practice we've stacked together, and the offseason that we've had, and then you trust the people involved, which we do, I think we're in a great place going into the season." - Mike Macdonald on his team coming into this new NFL season.
