LSU vs Clemson Prediction

The current betting odds have Clemson listed as a 3.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Clemson had a great season last year, finishing with a 10-4 record overall and they were 7-1 in the ACC too. They have had some down seasons in recent years, but they elevated themselves back to the top of the ACC last season and will be looking to pick up right where they left off. Clemson is returning a ton of talent on both offense and defense this season, making them a very big threat in the ACC and a potential National Championship contender. This is going to be a big year for them and they will be looking to come out strong in this first game with a statement win. Meanwhile, LSU had a good season last year, finishing 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the SEC, but they still fell short of their standard and missed the playoffs. Brian Kelly hasn't been able to put everything together since taking the team over, and this is going to be a big year for him to show some results. They are returning a lot of the talent they had last season too, but there are some new faces on defense and it could take some time for everything to mesh together. Brian Kelly has also struggled to win these opening games since getting to LSU so this could be another year where they fall short right out of the gate, taking on what could be a true contender this season. The best way to place a bet here is on Clemson to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"I've been really pleased on the things that you guys don't really pay attention to - their details, their habits, how they use nutrition the right way, recover - all those things are really good signs that we have a group that's mature and understands how to take care of themselves and prepare themselves for the season." - Brian Kelly on his team coming into this new college football season.

"I mean, they're together, they've been about their business, and they've just shown up and done the work. They have also been pretty fortunate with the pretty unusual cool weather over the past week or so. I always tell everybody to have a great team, you need a little luck along the way, and they've had some favor." - Dabo Swinney on his team coming into this new CFB season.
