Rockets vs Lakers Prediction

The current betting odds have the Lakers listed as a 2.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Rockets have looked good in their games this season with their 52-30 record overall which had them in the top half of the West. They have been a good road team too with their 22-19 road record this year. Meanwhile, the Lakers have looked good in their games this season with their 53-29 record overall which had them in the top half of the West. They have looked great on their home court too with their 28-13 home record this season. This is game 5 of a 7-game series between the 4 seeded Lakers and the 5 seeded Rockets in the West for the 1st round of the NBA playoffs. The Lakers are entering this game with a 3-1 series lead after the Rockets won game 4 by a score of 115-96. The Rockets finally won a game in this series and they did it in crushing fashion without Durant in the lineup, but it might be too late for them. No team in NBA history has ever come back to win a series after being down 3-0 and the Rockets haven't looked like a team that can be the first to pull that off. They got crushed in the first 2 road games even though they were a favorite in both and losing game 3 at home in OT after blowing a late lead really put the dagger in this series. They fought back hard on their home court in game 4 to get their 1 win, but now the Lakers are going back home with a chance to end things and they are going to have a better effort in this one. The Rockets will likely be missing Durant still so that is a huge blow to their offense and they have also looked like a completely different team in their road games this year, compared to playing at home. The Lakers have shown that they still have the talent without Doncic and Reaves to run the Rockets right out of this series and they also gave the Rockets a lot of trouble during the regular season too. Look for the Lakers to bring their best effort here to end this series at home and get some rest for the next round. The best way to place a bet here is on the Lakers to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“The focus was good today and I think just in general guys have pride. You obviously don’t want to get swept. And we understood how well we played last game and that was a big picture and the perspective we had was we played a really good three quarters, don’t let that last 30 seconds take away from what you did and I think it was a good carryover tonight.” - Ime Udoka after his team’s win against the LA Lakers in the 4th game of this series on Sunday.

“If we want to win this series, we have to protect the ball and we have to defensive rebound and we have to be able to obviously bring that toughness which we did tonight. I’m not worried about that. But the turnovers obviously killed us from start to finish.” - LeBron James after their loss against the Rockets in game 4 of this series on Sunday.
