Lions vs Packers Prediction

The current betting odds have the Packers listed as a 2.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Packers had a good season last year, going 11-6 overall and making the playoffs, but they were still only the 3rd best team in the NFC North. They went 1-5 in their own division last year, but they have a chance to get rid of that narrative in their season opener. The Packers have had a really young team over the last few years, but this offense has been growing together and they will be looking to take a big step this season. They also had a great defense last year, and that defense just got a lot better with the addition of Micah Parsons. This defense is going to be even better than it was last season and that gives them a big edge at home since their opponent doesn't have a great defense. The Lions had a great season last year, going 15-2 overall and making the playoffs with the number 1 seed in the NFC. They ended up falling short though and a big reason was that defense. They didn't have a terrible defense last season, but they definitely got exposed in their games against top offenses. They did have one of the best offenses in the NFL last year and they are bringing back a majority of that talent so scoring isn't going to be the issue here, but the Packers definitely have the edge now being at home with the better defense. The best way to place a bet here is on the Packers to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"If you love football, you love going to play there. And so our guys look forward to it, man. It’s one of those special places to go play.” - Dan Campbell on his team opening the season at Lambeau Field.

“I think for us, when you have opportunities, you’ve got to make the plays, make the calls, and put the guys in the right spot. Unfortunately, last year in that game, it’s 16-10 in the fourth quarter. We needed a stop, we didn’t get it, then we turned the ball over, and there you have it.” - Matt LaFleur on how his team needs to improve this season.
