Cowboys vs Eagles Prediction

The current betting odds have the Eagles listed as a 7 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Eagles had a great season last year, finishing 14-3 overall with one of the best records in the NFL and they went on to win the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only did they take down the back-to-back champions at the time, they also embarrassed them in a game that wasn't even close. The Eagles are now the team to beat in the NFL and they still have lots of talent from that Super Bowl winning team. They will be looking to come out strong in this season opener and pick up right where they left off last season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys had a disaster season that was filled with injuries on both sides of the ball. They went 7-10 overall and failed to make the playoffs, and they don't look to be in any better shape this year. They have a new head coach that doesn't have any experience being the head coach of an NFL team and they also have some off the field distractions with some of their key players. The Cowboys are entering the season healthy again, but one of their best defenders has asked for a trade and that would be a huge blow to the defense if he does not play. The offense still has plenty of talent, but the Eagles also had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season so it won't be easy for the Cowboys to move the ball in this season opener. The Eagles are a machine and this isn't the team that the Cowboys want to see in their 1st game after the season they just had. The best way to place a bet here is on the Eagles to cover the spread in this game.

Cowboys Eagles Prediction:  Our NFL Pick for Thursday, September 4, 2025 (8:20 pm ET start time) is Eagles 24 Cowboys 10.

Notable Quotes

"It was hard to sit down in front of those guys and be honest and tell them the why, tell them the things they do well, tell them the areas that they can improve. I think that's important because anytime you have those hard conversations, whether they're back or not back, they hopefully can use a thing that they're given the feedback about to improve themselves as a player." - Brian Schottenheimer on the team’s 53-man roster coming into the new NFL season.

“I felt like it was just not great complimentary football today. When you have the heat like that, you want to be able to — defense had some long drives, offense had some three-and-outs and you want to be able to play complimentary football in that area. I have to watch the tape. Obviously, they had some good moments and had some plays that they made, but also we missed some plays. But, that’s not always just on the quarterback if there was a misplay. I’ll have to go watch the tape. It wasn’t good enough out there on the field today. Coaching, playing, anything.” - Nick Sirianni on the backup QB competition.
